How Joule14 handles the limited information collected through this website.

Last updated August 22, 2026

Scope and contact

This notice applies to personal information handled through the Joule14 website, contact form, early-access or product-feedback submissions, and Joule14's use of linked publishing and subscription services. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to nick@joule14.com or PO Box 326, Flagstaff, AZ 86002.

Information collected

Depending on how you use the site, Joule14 may collect:

  • Contact information, including name, email, organization, inquiry type, message, privacy-policy version, and acknowledgment time.
  • Early-access or product-feedback information, which may include email, role, organization, intended use, timing, preferred format, interview interest, policy version, and acknowledgment time.
  • Ordinary request metadata processed by hosting and security providers, such as IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, and timestamp. Joule14 does not intentionally add those values to its form-submission records.
  • Customer-account and product information, including email address, authentication identifiers and session cookies, subscription and entitlement status, accepted terms version, alert preferences, product feedback, and product activity needed to operate and improve Frontier Map.
  • Billing records received from Stripe, such as Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, status, renewal dates, and billing contact details. Payment-card details are entered directly into Stripe and are not stored by Joule14.

Joule14.com does not ask for or store new consumer newsletter subscription addresses. Selecting a subscription link opens the Joule14 publication on Substack. Substack collects and processes the subscription information under its own notices and may make subscriber information available to Joule14 as the publication operator.

Selecting an X subscription link opens X. Joule14.com does not process the subscription checkout, collect payment-card or X-account credentials, or administer access to subscriber content. X handles account access, billing, renewal, cancellation, and related payment information under its own terms and privacy notice. X may make certain subscriber and interaction information visible to Nick Dorsey through its creator tools.

This website does not store payment-card information or ask for portfolio holdings. Passwordless account access is provided through Supabase. Please do not submit payment-card data, credentials, holdings, or planned trades through a free-text field.

How information is used

Joule14 uses information to respond to inquiries, evaluate product interest, arrange product-feedback conversations, deliver requested transactional messages, prevent abuse, maintain policy-acknowledgment records, protect the service, and comply with applicable obligations. An early-access or product-feedback submission, including interest in Frontier Map or another product concept, is used only for that product-interest workflow and is not a purchase, reservation, or consumer newsletter subscription. Subscriber and interaction information made available through X is used to administer participation in the subscriber program and communicate with subscribers through X. Customer-account, billing, entitlement, preference, alert-delivery, and product-feedback data is used to operate, secure, support, and improve Frontier Map.

Service providers and external services

Joule14 uses service providers acting on its behalf, including Vercel for hosting, operational logs, and privacy-conscious website analytics; Supabase for authentication and durable application storage; Stripe for checkout, subscription billing, and the billing portal; Resend for transactional and opted-in product-alert delivery; Google Workspace for correspondence; Sanity for editorial content; and Google Fonts for browser-loaded typography. The site retrieves public publication information from Substack on the server. Opening a subscription or article link transfers the visitor to Substack, which handles newsletter signup, delivery, and subscription preferences under its own privacy notice and terms.

Opening an X subscription or X profile link transfers the visitor to X. X handles its accounts, subscriber checkout, billing, access, communications, and platform activity under its own privacy notice and terms.

Joule14 does not use an advertising pixel or session-replay tool in this build. General website analytics must not receive Frontier Map searches, research questions, watchlists, email addresses, or other subscriber-entered product data.

Disclosure and sale

Joule14 discloses information to service providers only for the purposes described above, and may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or security, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. Joule14 does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention

Personal information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected and for legitimate security and recordkeeping needs. Account, billing, entitlement, research-alert, and audit records may be retained for the life of the account and a reasonable period afterward. Older direct-subscription records created by a prior website build, if any, may remain in restricted records or backups while Joule14 completes an appropriate retention review; the site no longer accepts new consumer newsletter records. Legal holds and contractual obligations may require longer retention.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information by emailing nick@joule14.com. Joule14 may need to verify the request and may retain information when required by law or necessary to protect security and legal rights. Substack subscribers can manage delivery and unsubscribe through Substack. X subscribers manage billing, cancellation, account, and platform privacy choices through X. Requests involving subscriber information available to Joule14 may also be sent to the same Joule14 address, although Joule14 cannot change records controlled solely by Substack or X. Frontier Map subscribers can manage ordinary billing changes through Stripe's Customer Portal and research-alert choices through the Joule14 account experience.

Security and international processing

Joule14 uses administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the limited information handled, but no system is completely secure. Service providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.

Children and changes

The site is intended for a general audience interested in AI and technology and is not directed to children under 13. Joule14 may update this notice as the service or its providers change. The date shown on this page identifies the most recent revision.
